Here Comes the Sun

I am very happy to see Friday again! This has been a busy week with shopping for outdoor chairs, hair cuts and colours and cleaning out the garage for the final stage of our yard renovations.

At National Scrapbooking Weekend I managed making a couple layouts. Here is one that's sure to get your sunny weekend going!

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

Storytelling Sunday 3 | May 2013

This is the third year of Storytelling Sunday where Sian over at From High in the Sky has many of us sharing stories of all kinds on the first Sunday of the month. This year she we are sharing those items which are precious to us and would be hard to part with. You can see the details here on her blog.

Over a week ago when I came home from work, the first thing I did was change out of my work clothes, I made a pot of coffee, grabbed my camera and sat outside in the peace of our backyard. The temperature gauge reading +22 C.

We have been under what feels like a long Winter spell... almost 6 months of it...

Even with the warmness of the day the snow is still trying to cling onto the last bits of frozen ground. You can see it there at the edge of the fence.

When the weather changes and warmer temperatures are had, there is quite a bit of exploring to do.

But really I think we all have the same thoughts...

That sun sure feels good!

Right now the feeling of the warmth on my skin and the sun in my eyes are what's precious...

Today I'm making the most of my day. It's suppose to be sunny and +24 C. That sounds like perfect BBQ weather to me!

Take care friends!

Thank you for stopping by and having a read! If you would like to see other stories shared at From High in the Sky, then do pop by Sian's blog and have a look.

A Cup of Tea...

Once a month, Abi over at Creating Paper Dreams, has invited us to come sit and have a cup of tea.  It provides us a time and place to share with each other what is happening in our day to day life.

If you were to come over and share a cup of tea with me I would invite you into my home and we would sit in the front room and depending on the weather… we may even sit outside on the patio.

I would likely start by telling you I have three family weddings coming up in the next few months and all of them are on Marvin’s side. I would tell you, I have been asked to “take some candid shots” at my brother in laws dinner which is in 3 weeks, and I would ask if you had any tips on using an external flash. I then would laugh and admit I’ve not used mine before. It doesn't even have a battery in it and I have owned it for almost two years!

I would tell you I started a new job before Christmas as a manager and I would share this was something I never thought I would have done in my career, but that I am enjoying it very much. I would share part of the reason I made this leap is because I am concerned with the impending retirement of our baby boomers and the challenges this presents with succession planning. I want to be closer to our front line staff and encourage them and help facilitate change. I see so many postive things every day and it's makes me proud.

I would tell you I am looking forward to this weekend because it is National Scrapbooking Day weekend and I am planning to crop with my sister in law and a few good friends! I would share with you what projects I am currently working on. My “this is me” album is something I started just a month ago from a class I was taking at Studio Calico. I would tell you it has given me a good push to record some of my childhood stories! I would also share with you my Project Life album and although I am now 5 weeks behind, the intention is to catch up this weekend.

Lastly, I would share how excited I am for my upcoming sister’s trip to Vancouver Island, where we will spend 4 days at a spa, having daily treatments. This is our first trip the four of us have ever taken together! We are all looking forward too it and I cannot wait to take some photos of the seaside.

If you would like to see more posts from others, or participate, stop by Abi's. Her linky is still open.

Have a wonderful night my friends :)

A bit of this and that...

Hello there! Yikes! It is almost May and we are waiting for Spring like temperatures. It's  still very cold (-1C) and it doesn't help that I can still SEE snow on my front lawn as I am typing this! No matter, the sun is shining and it is high in the sky... and that is a good thing!

Life has been good and busy! We have been visiting with fiends and family, working very hard and of course there has been scrappy time and for that I have a few layouts to share with you!

This one I made for Treasured Memories as one of their guest designers. I nearly flipped when I saw these MME papers and embellishments Nadine gave me. The bright colours and fun brads... not to mention the journaling cards work well for those doing project life, needless to say it got me excited!

I got together with some former colleagues and friends for dinner at Earls. I had these Glitz Design papers for a few weeks and had been itching to use them. I absolutely love the pretty shades and patterns. I just started using those little enamel dots and now I'm totally addicted! Can't buy enough of them!

Here is one more for you... using Studio Calico's Neverland Kit... where I live there has been a restriction on how tall the buildings can  be due to our city airport, but recently this has changed as the airport is closing. I lived downtown for many years and although I do love having a house with a big back yard... I still have visions of living downtown overlooking our beautiful river valley!

That is it for me... this week I plan to post my Month In Numbers for March as I know May is coming!! I also plan to do a bit of blog reading and catching up with you :)
Take care my friends!

An Inspiration to See | Oprah

Hi All! I hope you are all doing well. I have been busy in my craft room and enjoying every minute of it!

I have a couple layouts here to share with you tonight. The first is of Oprah's visit in January. I took my sister Carmen with me and we could feel the vibe throughout the arena. It just happened when Oprah arrived in our fair city the temperature had dropped to some of the coldest Centigrades we had seen all Winter! She talked about how she had wanted to spend more time visiting Canada, but through her laughter she said we could have warned her! Yes Oprah, we know it's cold here but we are so thankful you visited and you can come back anytime!

This next layout I promised I would share. I did this for Treasured Memories (you can see more on their inspiration blog) as a guest designer. One thing I love about Instagram is all the cute hashtags created and #catsofinstagram is just one of millions.

That's it for now. I hope you have a fantastic rest of the week!
